Cultural Committee of West Bengal State University, under the aegis of IQAC, WBSU

celebrated the Birthdays of Rabindanath Tagore and Kazi Nazrul Islam in WBSU on Thursday,

the 6th June, 2024 at the Auditorium from 12:30 pm. The programme started with an opening

song in chorus and followed by a brief foreword by Dr. Arunabha Adhikari of the Department of

Physics. Students of our University participated in various cultural events on that day. There

were also three Lectures by:

1. Prof Arun Hota, Department of Hindi on the Perception and Influence of Rabindranath

Tagore on the Writers of Other Indian Languages.

2. Dr. Soma Bhadra Ray, Department of Bengali on Life and Works of Kazi Nazrul Islam.

3. Dr. Urvi Mukhopadhyay, Department of History on Film and Rabindranath.

The event was anchored by Dr. Pallav Mukhopadhyay of the Department of Journalism and

Mass Communication. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks by Dr. Moumita

Biswas of the Department of Bengali.

The Central Library and The Department of Library and Information Science of West Bengal State University in association with Sree Chaitanya Mahavidyalaya, Banipur Mahila Mahavidyalaya, Netaji Satabarshiki Mahavidyalaya, Basirhat College, Sree Chaitanya College, Habra, Hingalganj Mahavidyalaya and other colleges.

More than 300 students have participated in this event from various colleges and from the university. Five principals of various colleges were also present at the event.
