\ufeff<\/span>Since the inception of WBSU in 2008, a department initially named the \u2018Department of Commerce, Management & Marketing\u2019 (CMM) started its journey and a few years later this department was renamed the \u2018Department of Commerce and Management\u2019, which offered M.Com degree and remained functional till 3rd<\/sup> July 2022. On 4th<\/sup> July 2022, this department was bifurcated into two departments, namely the \u2018Department of Commerce\u2019 and the \u2018Department of Management and Marketing\u2019.<\/p>\n

The newly formed \u2018Department of Management and Marketing\u2019 is offering two years full-time MBA course’<\/strong>\u00a0(intake capacity at the entry point is 50) from the academic session 2022-2023, with four specializations, namely, a) Human Resource Management b) Marketing Management c) Financial Management and d) Systems and Operations Management. Students would be offered dual specialization under the Choice Based Credit system (CBCS). The department is having highly experienced full-time faculty members specializing in different areas of Management. Besides, several other eminent members from both academics and corporates with relevant and substantial practical experiences are to serve as Guest faculty members.<\/p>\n

The department is committed to providing the best and updated management education to the students and thus plays a pivotal role in shaping a bright, creative, successful, and sustainable future for them. It aims to foster the all-around development of students through multi-faceted and technically updated management education to serve society through the generation of well-rounded, multi-skilled, and socially responsible human resources. Accordingly, the syllabus is in tune with the current trends and practices in management studies as well as the UGC guidelines.<\/p>\n

The Department ensures to provide full assistance during the internship program inbuilt in the course itself and also will facilitate the proper placement of its students. Besides MBA, the department is also offering a Ph.D. program in different areas of Management for the eligible candidates. All the regular members of the faculty are holding Ph.D. degrees and have teaching and research experiences of more than 12 years. Further, on regular basis, the faculty members publish research articles in national and international journals and edited books.<\/p>\n

The Department focuses on organizing different programs like workshops, seminars, and conferences, lectures by corporate experts, and placement consultants at regular intervals. In the future, the department plans to offer short-term certificate courses encompassing the development of business and professional communities in collaboration with different institutions of repute. Workshops on Research Methodology, Entrepreneurship Development, Talent Management, Investment & Portfolio Management, Marketing Models and Research, Digital Marketing, Marketing Analytics, HR Analytics, Modern trends in Optimization, HRIS, Trends in Computer Programming, etc. may be conducted.<\/p>\n

The Department also envisages building a computer lab and management lab for providing hands-on training to its students. Different collaborative programs will also be initiated in the future. Thrust will be given to developing entrepreneurship skills among students by forming an entrepreneurship incubation and start-up centers in collaboration with leaders in the industry.<\/p>\n

The Centre for Management Studies is also being established to facilitate different self-financing courses beyond the campus for satisfying the need of urban and corporate working professionals. The Centre will spearhead MBA, Executive MBA and the like by joining hands with other institutions of repute. Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) will be in effect in coming future to realize the stated objectives of the Centre.
