The tone of the evening was set by the inaugural address of the Hon&#8217;ble Vice Chancellor of the University.\u00a0 The first talk delivered by Dr. Sugata Nandi, Department of History. WBSU explored the colonial perception on Indian magic and its fraught connection with\u00a0 science,\u00a0 spirituslism and myth. Samara Ann Cahill from Blinn College,\u00a0 USA elaborated on\u00a0 Samuel Johnson&#8217;s\u00a0 views of the Ottoman empire and women. We are overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of the audience. There were 950 registered participants and 1700 viewers on YouTube. The interactive session created a charged atmosphere of academic curiosity.
