Centre for Psychodynamic Studies (CPS) & The Department of Psychology, West Bengal State University in collaboration with IQAC, organized a day long Seminar on Gazing at Rabindranath through a dynamic lens on 12th October, 2022 from 12 Noon, in the Seminar Room 218 (Academic Block).
Prof. Anup Dhar, Former Professor of Department of Psychology, Ambedkar University deliberated upon how Rabindranath revealed himself through his letters more than through his autobiography, highlighting how he favored the ‘phonograph’ of inner-voice over the ‘photograph’ of outer-self.
Dr. Sovan Tarafder, Independent filmmaker, Journalist and Researcher – in his inimitable style portrayed the ‘KGF’- what he termed as the Kavi Guru Factor, tracing its ‘Salebrity’ and iconography amidst the ‘cultured’ Bengali.
Dr. Agniva Ghosh, Faculty of Modern Indian Languages, University of Delhi, spoke about the significant Freud-Tagore meet and its lack of significant documentation by the poet, who was still unable to dismiss the contribution of psychoanalysis and understanding the mind as Freud did.
The daylong seminar ended with an interactive panel, comprising the speakers and audience, where several dynamic concepts were explored and discussed. CPS and Department of Psychology, WBSU, would like to thank the Honorable Vice Chancellor, the chief patron. Prof. Sutapa Chatterjee, Director, IQAC, Dr. Sushanta Banerjee, University Librarian & Prof. Arunabha Adhikari, Faculty, Department of Physics graced the occasion. The event would not
have been successful without the enthusiastic presence of the faculty members and students.
