Outstanding Paper Presentation Award in Zoology
Sri Supriya Nath, Senior Research Fellow, Indian Council of Medical Research, Govt. of India
working in the laboratory of Professor Chiranjib Pal, Department of Zoology has been conferred
the ‘Outstanding Paper Presentation Award' in Zoology Section in the 6th Regional Science and
Technology Congresses (Region 5) organized by Department of Science and Technology and
Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal held at University of Kalyani during January 3-4,
2024.
The recognition included a certificate, cash award etc. Congratulations to Sri Supriya Nath, the
presenting author, and co-authors.
FULBRIGHT ORIENTATION PROGRAM FOR FACULTIES AND RESEARCH SCHOLARS
BOYS HOSTEL OF THE WEST BENGAL STATE UNIVERSITY IS INAUGURATED: A LONG PENDING WISH OF THE STUDENTS IS FULFILLED.
On the auspicious day of January 26, 2024, the Boys Hostel of the West Bengal State University is inaugurated by the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Professor Rajkumar Kothari. A large number of students and faculty members including the hostel boarders were present to witness the celebration of joy. It was due to the dedication of all the stake holders especially due to the hardwork of the Hostel Committee the Hostel boarders can now stay in a clean a hygienic hostel. While addressing the students, Professor Kothari thanked everyone involved to make it happen and advised the students to live unitedly forgetting the differences of opinion. He also said he will visit the Hostel occasionally. Dr. Sushanta Banerjee, the in-charge of the hostel thanked the hostel committee for their unconditional support to make the hostel a comfortable living place for students He also thanked to those who inspired the team by their positive criticism. In all it was a celebration of joy.

OBSERVATION OF 75th REPUBLIC DAY
75th Republic Day observed today at West Bengal State University in a befitted manner.. organised by NSS Cell, IQAC and Students’ Council. Prof. Raj Kumar Kothari, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor WBSU unfurled the National Flag and received Guard of Honour from Prof. Pranam Dhar, Program Coordinator-NSS, NSS Volunteers and Security Employees. University Hostel was then inaugurated by him, assisted by Dr. Sushanta Banerjee, University Librarian and in-charge of Hostel and Najrul Islam, General Secretary and Mehbub Ali, Secretary, Hostel Committee. Prof. Santa Dutta (De), Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calcutta acted as Chief Guest and enlightened the audience by the message of courage, equity and brevity. Prof. Kothari, Hon’ble VC, explained the significance of this day observance in today’s context. This program was followed by distribution of educational kits and fruits amongst the local school students, tree plantation, poster presentation and distribution of prizes of the annual sports meet, assisted by Prof. Anirban Sarkar, Sports Convener. There was a colourful but significant cultural program moderated by Dr. Soma Bhadra Roy of Bengali Department. The Program ended with a formal vote of thanks and National Anthem. 36 Teachers, 4 Officers, 26 Studdnts, 46 NSS Volunteers, 16 Non-teaching employees, 18 security employees, Head Master of the local school and 150 students from nearby schools participated in the program.
