His message to the youth is “Don’t forget your Roots”.
Dr. Sushanta Banerjee comes from Islampur, a subdivision town of West Bengal. After doing his master’s from DRTC, Indian Statistical Institute in Bengaluru, He worked several organizations including all major Stock Exchanges in India and the corporate like DLF. He was the founding director of the British Council, Chandigarh. After British Council assignment, Dr. Banerjee joined as the Director of American Information and Resource Center, American Consulate in Kolkata. He wanted to work in Indian Academia so he left American Center and joined West Bengal State University as the University Librarian. In West Bengal State University he developed a State of the Art Knowledge Center from the scratch and also opened the Library and Information Science Department for the benefit of rural students most of whom belong to the marginalized families and also to create employment opportunity for the talented young generation of in the field of Library and Information Science. Dr. Bannered received many National and International awards including Librarian of the year award by IASLIC and Superior honor Award from the Department of States of the Government of United States of America. He visited many countries in Europe and Asia and also many states of the United States of America for his professional development. He did his Ph.D on Marketing and Public Relation. Dr. Banerjee is a follower of the ideology of former Indian President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.
